Last week i was paralysed for a few days by the seemingly endless list of things that i need to do before i leave. From the tiny details like painting the kitchen window frame (yes really!) to the big ones like getting the house rented out and confirming my leaving date. After much flapping around and time wasting (I even started on a mound of paperwork that had been lurking the cupboard for some time…) i decided to tackle the most serious and dirty jobs first. I figured that once that was done, i could then enjoy the rest in the sunshine knowing that the worst was out of the way. Lo and behold, the “dirty” jobs were just not as bad as i thought they would be. Yes they were super dirty, clearing out the coal shed and the cellar did nothing for my manicure! But they are done in much less time than i imagined they would take, and it was an amazingly therapeutic process.
The things that worry other people don’t even touch the sides with me, one concern this week has been “will i be able to eat up all the food that i have in the cupboards before i go?!” cue the organising of a big BBQ to get everyone round to celebrate my departure and help me out!
So two horrible jobs are now out of the way, Cake Towers will be rented out as of early September and i really will be doing this now. It’s just sinking in that i am actually going. I have been talking about it for so long, but now i am actually going to go and do all the things that i have dreamed of. My gosh, i had better get on with clearing more stuff out of the house, and finalising that mega train ticket… watch this space for itinerary details!
