Only in Moscow…

Only in Moscow…

I strolled around the city today taking it all in, the chilled out boulevards, tree lined rings and bustling streets. All of a sudden i was pooped, so i hopped on the tourist bus. Not something i would normally do, but it killed two birds with one stone, sightseeing and resting at the same time! My Potter ponderings as i was taking in all that Moscow has to offer were that there are so many things that you will only see in Moscow, so here is my “Only in Moscow” list, if you have others i would love to hear them as i am sure there are a tonne that i have missed. So Only in Mocsow…

Can you smile at 100 people as you walk past them and it will only make them scowl more

Is there such a thing as a free tour that costs money! (and free coffee that costs on the train too, see upcoming Lev Tolstoy post for more details!)

Are there tractors roaming the middle of the city (and tanks sometimes apparently!)

Ladies wear furs to strut round the city when its 15 degrees!

Are all the women superbly glam and looking like they are about to go to a wedding at all times.

Which means that i look decidedly less glam and get followed round EVERY shop that i go in by the security guards!

Traffic beeps the ambulances to get out of the way (this was when it stalled flashing its lights coming out of a jam around traffic lights!)

You will find a Putin lookalike hanging around Red Square for picture opportunities… i scurried off!

You can buy a jacket potato with no jacket!

It feels like Moscow doesn’t want me to like it, people aren’t generally that friendly (apart from the wonderful Vera that showed me on a rainy walking tour and a Russian culinary adventure!) but the harshness makes me want to like it more and crack a smile out of at least one person!

There is my mission for the day, make at least one person in Moscow smile by the time i leave… i have until 23:45! wish me luck

Baci,
