French? Swedish? Italian? German? Australian? Who am i? In my first week away i as mistaken for a Frenchwoman, German and Italian. In the past people have been convinced that i am lying when i have told them that i am not Swedish (really?!) or Australian. I’m not sure what it is about me that make people totally unable to place me. I’m very curious about two things here:
- What is the stereotype that they have of British women that makes me think i am not like them?
- What is it about me that makes me so hard for people to place? Fair skin, freckles and curly brown hair… Is it really rocket science? Am i not an obvious Celt?! Why is it hard to believe that i am British?
i’ve started getting this again now i’ve hit Malaysia, people keep coming up to me and asking me where i am from and why i am here. I must have a friendly face 🙂 I seem to not look like whatever the overseas opinion of British women is, next time i am going to ask why and will report back on my findings!
